From the sound of it, the Baltimore Ravens have still got a bit of work to do on that front. It appears that the news is going to mean that Ray Rice could be heading toward the dreaded Franchise Tag. That would mean that a team signing Ray Rice would have to send a first-round pick to the Baltimore Ravens if they signed him. Go so far as to a player of the pedigree of Ray Rice, which hardly seems like a high price. Ray Rice, who is 25 yeas old, is coming off a career year in which he rushed for 1,364 yards and scored 15 touchdowns. Ray Rice also had a career high 704 yards receiving and made 76 catches. Ray Rice has at present rushed for at least 1,200 yards, scored at least six touchdowns, made at least 60 catches and racked up 500 yards receiving for three straight seasons. However, maybe that headline's a bit harsh. Nevertheless, the cold reality is that the NFL is a business first and foremost. In the case with the free agency around the corner, everyone has begun debating and speculating as to which outside players could land with the Baltimore Ravens. However, as a matter of a fact, the free agency doesn't just mean adding players to rosters, it means cutting them from teams as well. In the wake of a few of candidates for being restructured or cut altogether, the Ravens will look to create as much cap space as possible while cutting loose any players that they feel aren't contributing enough to justify their current salaries.
